The concept for Olde Souls Press goes back to the early 1990s when publisher Joanne DiMaggio founded a past life research, education and therapy organization called PLEXUS (Past Life Exploration, Understanding and Sharing). At the same time, she was serving on the Core Team of the Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. (Association for Research & Enlightenment) Heartland Region, headquartered in Chicago. As a writer with a professional background in advertising, public relations and marketing, she put those skills to work in promoting PLEXUS and the A.R.E. to like-minded souls.
During the course of her work, she met many leading edge therapists, authors, and other professionals representing numerous alternative fields. Being a journalist who had written and published newspaper and magazine articles, her focus was on telling people’s stories—especially those stories that were compelling and life changing yet ignored by the mainstream press. This was especially true of past life experiences, which encountered even more resistance. This void, coupled with the urging of people who had fascinating and compelling stories to share, whet her appetite for starting her own publishing company.
While in the planning stages, Joanne used the intervening time to go back to school and obtain her Masters in Transpersonal Studies from Atlantic University, using the Cayce material as the basis of Soul Writing: Conversing with Your Higher Self, the first book published under the Olde Souls Press brand.
Olde Souls Press is aptly named because it reflects the collective wisdom of men and women who inspire, empower and transform others through the written word. May their words will serve as a beacon to light your way as you fulfill your soul’s destiny.
